Hello,
I am experiencing an issue with my 64GB SanDisk USB flash drive, which is currently write-protected. I have tried several software tools, but none of them have solved the problem.
I am attaching a screenshot from the ChipEasy utility.
Could you please advise me on the appropriate tools to flash this USB drive? Perhaps this could resolve the issue.

Hi there,

It sounds like your USB drive might have hit a hardware-level write-protection, which unfortunately software alone often can't fix. Sometimes using a dedicated low-level formatting tool or the official SanDisk formatting utility can help, but if the drive is failing internally, flashing it might not work. I'd suggest trying the official SanDisk "USB Rescue" or "Formatter" tool first, and if that doesn't resolve it, the drive may be permanently locked or damaged.

NAND flash memory chips have a limited time to retain data, for example, 10 years at a certain temperature and write cycles.

If I only power this chip once a year, is that enough to retain data permanently? With only 2 or 3 write cycles performed.

С помощью SMI SM3257ENAA MPTool V2.5.27 всё-же получилось создать CD-ROM. io games
Поменял Erase Good Block Only на Erase All Block, не очень помогло - программа в цикле начинала делать Pretest, не продвигаясь дальше. Отключил Pretest, начала ругаться на невозможность форматирования. Отключил и форматирование, и получил флешку с CD-ROM разделом, но не форматируемую. Это было связано с тем, что каким-то невероятным образом неверно распознался объём флешки - в проводнике он был заметно больше фактического. После долгих попыток исправить это флешка стала размером ноль байт.
В итоге запустил перепрошивку с настройками по умолчанию, что помогло вернуть флешку к изначальному состоянию. После этого настройки из моего первого поста перестали приводить к ошибке, и на выходе получилось требуемое - работающая флешка с CD-ROM.
