Hi!

I have an old 512 MB USB stick. I prepared it by formatting and partitoning for booting as an USB-ZIP drive. Then I tried to fill it with zeros with linux "dd" command. After this I realized my USB stick became write protected. However it doesn't have a switch on the side to switch write protection off. I am unable to format or partition it, only the first ~ 14 MB is writeable with linux command "dd". The ID with linux "lsusb" utility: "067b:2517 Prolific Technology, Inc. Flash Disk Mass Storage Device". Looks exactly like this:

I have tried the tools found in this forum, but none of them worked, because this particular chip ID isn't supported by them. I tried all of these utility with a Windows XP Live edition, as I don't have Windows installed on my computer:
- Prolific UFD Utility v21400 -> the application doesn't start at all.
- A-DATA PD10 Utility 1.4 -> Device not supported message.
- Prolific PL-2528 MPTool CM M2209 -> Doesn't recognize my chip.
- Prolific PL-2528 AP v1.8 -> Same as above.
- Prolific PL-2515 EzRecover Tool v2.0.0.3 -> Chip not supported.

Is there any utility / format tool which supports my USB stick?
